Setting Up the Made In Canada IPTV Add-on
Hey there! Don’t worry about the number of steps it takes to install this add-on. It’s really pretty easy, especially if you stick with me and follow the step-by-step guide I have for you. Just like most add-ons that aren’t directly from Kodi, we have three main steps to do. Are you ready? Let’s jump in and start!
Step 1: Turning on Unknown Sources
Before we get going, we need to make sure that Kodi can use add-ons from Unknown Sources. It’s not allowed in the default settings, so let’s see how to change that!
- Start from Kodi’s main screen.
- Look for the Settings icon; it’s the little gear at the top left!
- Next, go into System settings.
- Now, find Add-ons on the left side and click it.
- Look for the switch next to Unknown sources. We need to turn it ON! If it’s off, it will be grey, but we want it to be white.
- Click the switch if you need to change it.
Step 2: Adding the Repository File Source
Now, we need to tell Kodi where it can find the Made in Canada IPTV add-on.
- Go back to the home screen and click the Settings gear again.
- Next, find the File manager and click it.
- Now, look for Add-source in the left part and double-click it. A new screen will pop up!
- Here, click where it says <None>.
- In the new screen, you have to type this address exactly as it is: https://kdil.co/repo/ and then click OK.
- Now, back at the Add file source screen, find where it says repo under “Enter a name for this media source.” We want to give it a name that makes more sense! So, change repo to Kodil and hit OK again.
- Finally, click OK one more time to save the new source.
Step 3: Installing the Kodil Repository
Alright, we’re getting closer! Now, we need to install the Kodil Repository, it’s like a library of add-ons.
- Head back to Kodi’s main screen.
- Click Add-ons on the left side and then find the Add-on Browser icon at the top left. It looks like an open box!
- Once you’re in the Add-on browser screen, click Install from zip file.
- Now, click the Kodil source we added earlier and click kodil.zip to start installing the repository.
- Wait a bit, and you’ll see a message pop up saying the Kodisrael repository is installed. And no worries, Kodisrael and Kodil are the same thing!
Step 4: Installing the Made in Canada IPTV Add-on
Woo-hoo! Now it’s time to get the actual Made in Canada IPTV add-on!
- You should still be on the Add-on browser screen. This time, click Install from repository.
- You’ll see a list of all the repositories you have. Find ..Kodil Repository and click it. It should be near the top since it’s in alphabetical order!
- Now, click Video add-ons and find Made In Canada IPTV from the list. It’s in the middle of a really long list with almost 600 entries!
- After clicking it, an information screen will appear. Find and click the Install button at the bottom right to start installing the add-on and everything it needs to work properly.
- A little while later, you’ll get a message saying the Made in Canada IPTV add-on is installed!
Exploring the Made In Canada IPTV Add-on
Alright, so the Made in Canada IPTV add-on may not win any beauty contests, and it might not be the most organized. But, no worries—it’s simple and not overloaded with too many sub-menus. I’m here to guide you to all the cool places in this add-on, so you won’t have to search around!
Before You Start…
There are a couple of things you need to use this add-on— the F4MTester and Sportsdevil add-ons. If you don’t have them yet, you can find them in the same Kodil repository where we got the Made in Canada IPTV add-on. Installing them is a breeze, just a few seconds each!
- Just follow the same steps as we did when installing the Made in Canada IPTV add-on.
- This time, you’ll be choosing either F4MTester or Sportsdevil from the Video add-ons section in the Kodil repository.
Taking a Look at the Main Menu
The main menu of this add-on is straightforward and pretty short, even if it’s a bit mysterious. You’ll see five main options: Live IPTV, Sports Central, ACESTREAM CHANNELS, Music, and SPECIAL LINKS AND LIVE EVENTS.
Let’s find out what treasures each section holds! I’ll walk you through them and highlight the coolest content they have.
Exploring Live IPTV Section
Since we’ve been raving about this add-on as a top-notch place for live IPTV, it’s only fair we start exploring this section first. This is where the majority of the cool content is!
Digging into Subsections
Let’s dive deeper into each subsection and see what fun stuff we can find!
CBC NEWS LIVE FEEDS
So, CBC stands for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and it’s a big deal in Canada! It’s been around since 1936, making it the oldest broadcaster in Canada. It’s a public TV and radio service and offers news through CBC News channel.
- Here, you can watch the main CBC News live feed and also check out several regional feeds. So, if you’re in the mood for Canadian News, this is your go-to place!
CANADIAN ENGLISH IPTV
This part has almost 50 live Canadian channels! You’ll find some channels that are uniquely Canadian, like YTV which has lots of cool shows for young people. There are also Canadian versions of American channels, like MTV Canada, and major Canadian Networks like CTV and Global. So, lots to explore here!
CANADIAN FRENCH IPTV
Did you know Canada is a bilingual country? That’s right! Over 20% of its people speak French. Especially in the province of Quebec, where most people speak French. That’s why you’ll find a bunch of French TV channels in this section.
- In this section, you can find the three main French networks: CBC (which is called Radio Canada in French), TVA, and V. But there’s more! You can also catch up on every specialized Canadian French-language channel you can think of.
- For news lovers, there are channels like RDI and LCN. If you are a sports fan, check out RDS. And, if you love international French-speaking shows, there’s TV5.
- Plus, there are some more specialized stations like Savoir, Séries+ or Addik for those looking for something a bit different.
USA List
The USA List section provides a collection of American TV channels featuring major networks like ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, PBS, and The CW. It also hosts premium channels such as AMC, Bravo, Showtime, USA, and TBS, catering to diverse preferences. Specialized channels like Discovery, National Geographic, TLC, and Food Network are also included, alongside channels for younger audiences like Nick, Disney, and Cartoon Network. It’s worth noting that some channels may require multiple attempts to open, with some remaining unresponsive.
UK TV List
The UK TV List section is extensive, featuring all BBC and ITV channels, Channel 4, More 4, Channel 5, and others, including RTE One, RTE Two, and UK versions of specialized US channels like Comedy Central UK and Food Network UK. News channels like BBC World News, CNN UK, and Bloomberg UK are also available, alongside children’s channels like CBBC, CBeebies, CITV, Cartoon Network UK, Nickelodeon UK, and Disney UK.
Sports Central
Sports Central is a significant component of the Made in Canada IPTV, offering abundant sports content categorized into three subsections: Live Games and Event Streams – By Sport, Live Sports IPTV Channels, and CBC Sports Channels.
Live Games and Event Streams – By Sport
This section is meticulously organized, with subsections dedicated to various sports. Here’s a quick overview:
- Face-off: Ice Hockey
- Play Ball: Baseball
- Gridiron: American Football
- Brawl: Combat sports, predominantly MMA
- Checkered Flag: Motorsports
- Soccer: Football (referred to as soccer in Canada)
- Hoops: Basketball
- NLL Lacrosse: Lacrosse
Live Sports IPTV Channels
This section delivers live feeds from prevalent sports TV channels, exuding a distinct Canadian essence with Sportsnet and TSN channels at the forefront. However, the range isn’t restricted to Canadian content. It encapsulates major American sports networks including ESPN 1, 2, and 3, along with NHL, NBA, MLB, and NFL networks. International content is also well-represented with channels like Sky Sports, BT Sports, Eurosport 1 and 2, Racing UK, Real Madrid TV, and Chelsea TV, offering a diverse sports viewing experience.
CBC Sports Channels
Rooting back to its Canadian foundation, this subsection provides links to nine CBC Sports Channels. Regrettably, none were operational at the time of writing. However, CBC Sports remains accessible via the Canadian English IPTV List, mitigating this shortfall.
Music
The Music section is compartmentalized into 24-hour commercial-free music radio and music videos, housing around 75 radio channels and 25 music video channels, meticulously categorized for user convenience.
Special Links and Live Events
The naming of this section may evoke anticipations of live events, which, at the time of writing, seemed absent. However, its wealth lies in the extensive lists it harbors. For instance, the second World M3U List features nearly 9,000 entries, while Free IPTV List and Daily IPTV Generator collectively host over 20 diverse lists of IPTV feeds, extending to several thousand entries each.
The pivotal challenge and benefit of these lists is their substantial length. Their extensive and, at times, unalphabetized nature may pose challenges in locating specific content, making them more suited to casual browsing. Hence, when users encounter appealing content, adding it to Kodi favorites would facilitate easier access in the future.
Acestream Channels
The Acestream channels section incorporates over 40 channels, synergizing with Acestream, an app that enables content streaming directly from torrents without pre-downloading. Although operating Acestream on Kodi could be intricate, necessitating the Plexus add-on installation besides Acestream, it is argued that the contents in this section are predominantly available elsewhere within the Made in Canada IPTV add-on. Hence, avoiding this section might not lead to a significant loss of content.
Pros and Cons
What We Like:
- Volume of Live Streams: The sheer magnitude of live streams is striking, showcasing the add-on’s versatility.
- Developer Interaction: The developer, The Krazy One, maintains a presence on Twitter as @TheKrazy0ne, facilitating user interaction and updates.
What We Don’t Like:
- Unresponsive Links: Numerous dead or unresponsive links necessitate multiple clicks for playback initiation, leading to occasional frustrations.
- Lack of Descriptions: The absence of channel descriptions, albeit understandable due to the volume, impedes user navigation.
- Search Functionality: The add-on could significantly benefit from an integrated search engine, considering the extensive available content.
Conclusion
The Made in Canada IPTV add-on emerges as an exemplary option for live IPTV, transcending its name by offering global content. While minor issues and missing features like channel descriptions and a search engine are evident, the overall performance and the richness of content overshadow these drawbacks. The availability of diverse content and the developer’s openness to interaction accentuate its appeal, positioning it as a valuable addition for users seeking varied live IPTV experiences.
